Selecting The Perfect Trimmer Or Edger For Your Lawn Care

!±8± Selecting The Perfect Trimmer Or Edger For Your Lawn Care

Apart from the lawn mower, the edger and trimmer is likely to be the tool used almost as much. Not many lawn mowers will be capable of reaching everywhere, since most garden lawns will butt up against a patio, wall, or have several trees on the property. As a result, the only way to maintain the lawn is by using a trimmer of some type.

The basic lawn edger is equipped with dual blades and attached to a long wooden handle. These are relatively lightweight, require no gasoline, and there's no need for a cord to get in the way. If the blades are maintained dirt free and sharp, they will be able to adequately cut 35 feet of pathway in just a few minutes.

But they will need a lot of muscular exertion. For those gardening enthusiasts that enjoy pottering around outside, but are getting along in years, they may not be ideal. It's not going to be fun maintaining a trim looking lawn if the end result is sore arms and a stiff back.

The next level up is an electric trimmer. Reasonably priced and simple to use, they remove difficult to reach grass by carving it off with a swiftly spinning plastic string. The cartridge head that holds the trimmer line is quick to replace, can last for up to several months and costs under to replace.

A further benefit over the manual edger is that they can often be used in a variety of positions, and in situations that the manual tool is unable to work. If you lawn is adjacent to an outbuilding, for example a shed, it can often be tough to use a pole trimmer to eliminate the grass. But the automatic feed trimmer will work perfectly in there conditions. It will not do any damage to the shed and rapidly removes the grass.

A further style of power trimmer uses a small gas powered motor. They tend to be rather noisy, but the main setback is really the weight. They are much heavier than their electric trimmer counterpart. On the plus side, they are not fitted with a cable to drag behind.

As you will not be restricted by cable length there are no limits to where it may be used. If you have a huge garden, or have a need to tidy up certain spots that are not equipped with a nearby power supply, using an electric powered trimmer can be a problem. In these situations, a gas powered trimmer is ideal.

A gas powered edger will also be equipped with much more power. So if you are plagued with thick weeds, overgrowing brush, or other debris that you want to cut down to size, this model will do the job. Although, slightly more expensive, they will last for years and the cost will be worth the effect saved.
